Terms of Service

Terms of Service

These Terms govern your access to Deco My Tree and its tree, greeting and sharing features. In these Terms, “we” and “us” refer to the operator of this website. Please read these Terms together with our Privacy Policy before creating an account, saving a tree or sending a greeting.

1. The service and these Terms

The service lets you create a seasonal tree, share its link and receive written greetings as ornaments. Browsing generally does not require an account. Saving a tree and sending a greeting require sign-in. Features and seasonal availability may change, and the service is not a permanent archive or an emergency communication channel.

You must be at least 13 and meet any higher minimum age required where you live. If you are a minor, obtain permission from a parent or legal guardian where required. Do not use the service if you cannot lawfully agree to these Terms or provide the permissions needed for your information and content.

2. Accounts and account security

You may use an available social sign-in provider or a phone number and password. Each sign-in method creates a separate account; matching email addresses do not merge accounts. Use only a phone number or social identity you are entitled to use, and do not impersonate another person.

Phone accounts do not use SMS verification, and the service does not verify that a person owns a number. Password recovery is not currently available. Keep your credentials safe, sign out on shared devices, and contact us if you suspect unauthorized access. You are responsible for your use of the account, subject to protections that applicable law gives you.

3. Trees, greetings and seasonal rules

Each account may create one tree per season and change its appearance. Greetings are delivered to the selected tree and are private by default. Check the recipient, signature, anonymity setting and reading permissions before sending. A successful submission does not provide a general right to edit or recall a sent greeting; contact us if you need help with a privacy or safety concern.

Greetings are normally revealed on Dec 25, and trees stop accepting them on Jan 1, using the tree’s applicable seasonal settings and time zone. A tree owner can stop receiving greetings earlier. The date and availability shown for a particular tree take priority over general descriptions; do not assume that the event follows every country’s religious or public-holiday calendar.

4. Sharing, anonymity and visibility

A tree link is shareable and is not a password or a guarantee of confidentiality. Anyone who receives it may be able to view the tree, ornaments and public signatures. If a sender allows others to read a greeting, visitors can read it after the reveal; otherwise it remains restricted to the sender and recipient under the service’s access rules.

Hiding your name removes the displayed signature from the tree owner and visitors. It does not remove the sending account’s association with the greeting from our records, or make your writing impossible to recognize. Recipients and people with access can copy or capture content, and we cannot control copies shared outside the service.

5. Acceptable use

Use the service respectfully and lawfully. In particular, you must not:

  • Send harassment, bullying, hate, threats, sexual exploitation, or content that unlawfully harms children or other people.
  • Publish another person’s private information, impersonate them, or submit content without the rights or permission required to share it.
  • Send spam, scams, deceptive promotions or harmful links, or manipulate trees, greetings or rankings with automated or coordinated abuse.
  • Attempt to access someone else’s account or private greetings, defeat access controls or rate limits, introduce malware, or disrupt the service.

6. Your content and our materials

You retain any rights you have in your messages and other submitted content. You give us a non-exclusive, royalty-free permission to store, reproduce, format, transmit and display that content only as reasonably needed to operate, protect and moderate the service, subject to the visibility you choose and the Privacy Policy. This does not transfer ownership of your content to us.

The website’s software, branding, design and supplied artwork remain subject to the rights of their respective owners where applicable. Using the service does not give you a general licence to copy or commercially redistribute those materials. Exceptions and permissions available under applicable law are unaffected.

7. Reports and moderation

Use the report option on a readable greeting to flag abuse. Authorized personnel may review content and related account information for moderation, support, security or legal obligations, including content that is private or not yet revealed. We may restrict content, hide a tree or suspend an account where reasonably necessary. You may contact us to ask about a decision; do not submit knowingly false or abusive reports.

8. Other platforms and sponsored links

Social sign-in, sharing destinations and sponsored links are provided by third parties under their own terms and privacy rules. A share button prepares a link and message for your chosen platform; you decide whether to post or send it there. Sponsored links are labelled when displayed. We do not control third-party availability, products or transactions, and a link is not a promise about their quality or safety.

9. Availability and responsibility

We take reasonable care in providing the service, but cannot promise uninterrupted access, error-free delivery, permanent storage or recovery of every draft or message. Maintenance, connectivity problems, seasonal closure and security measures may interrupt features. Keep a separate copy of any message you cannot afford to lose, and do not submit information that needs a more secure communication channel.

To the extent permitted by applicable law, we are not responsible for losses caused by another user’s content, third-party services or circumstances outside our reasonable control. Nothing in these Terms excludes liability or remedies that cannot lawfully be excluded, including mandatory consumer and data-protection rights. These Terms do not replace any responsibility the law places on us for our own conduct.

10. Leaving, restriction and account deletion

You can stop using the service at any time. Deleting an account in Account signs you out, disables that sign-in identity for this site and hides your tree. It does not immediately erase every database record or automatically remove greetings you already sent to other people. Some identity and safety records are retained to prevent reactivation and handle abuse; see the Privacy Policy and contact us about any additional deletion request.

We may restrict access where reasonably necessary to address violations, legal requirements, security risks or service closure. Where appropriate, we will consider requests for clarification or review. Provisions that reasonably need to continue after you leave, such as content rights, lawful retention and mandatory rights, continue to apply to that extent.

11. Applicable rights and disputes

If you have a concern, contact us so we can try to resolve it. These Terms do not require you to waive mandatory local consumer or privacy protections, use private arbitration, or give up access to a court or regulator where the law allows it. Applicable law and jurisdiction are determined under the relevant legal rules, without restricting your mandatory rights.

12. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms to reflect the service or legal requirements. The revision date appears above. We will provide further notice or seek agreement where the law requires it; a change does not remove rights that already apply to you. Review the current version before continuing to use Deco My Tree.

13. Contact

For service, content or account concerns, email support@decomytree.net. Explain the issue and provide enough information for us to identify the relevant tree or account. Do not send your password or an unnecessary identity document.
